Teacher Pay Agreement, Kudos to Karen Cruickshank

Karen Cruickshank with Kevin BuraksSchool Board President Karen Cruickshank expressed her gratitude to the Tredyffrin-Easttown Education Association (TEEA) for their offer of a 6-month pay waiver for the first half of the 2011-12 school year. The agreement freezes all compensation at 2010-11 levels and helps close next year’s $3 million budget gap. Speaking about negotiations, teacher union president Pete DePiano said, “Karen was the glue, she was the key to all this.” Read more on the pay agreement and Karen’s bi-partisan support for re-election to the school board.

May 6 Insider Presentations

Our spring Seis de Mayo fundraiser will be mostly socializing and a casual opportunity to meet our school board and supervisor candidates. However, political nerds will be pleased to learn that two knowledgeable insiders have confirmed their participation:
State Senator, Andy Dinniman, the minority chair of the Education Committee, has been struggling in Harrisburg with the Corbett budget cuts affecting school districts and making life more difficult for T/E School Board President Karen Cruickshank and member Kevin Buraks. Senator Dinniman will brief us on education funding.
Tredyffrin resident Jim Brown is Senator Bob Casey’s Chief of Staff. Senator Casey is a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and Mr. Brown will be attending to share insider insights from Washington during this happening week.
