Roberta Hotinski for School Board Director, TESD Region 1
Dr. Roberta Hotinski is a geoscientist and project manager for a major ocean research initiative, the SOCCOM Project, based at Princeton University. Prior to her work on this project, she was an information officer and science communications consultant for a university-industry partnership at Princeton focused on reducing carbon emissions. As part of her work, she has developed educational materials for teachers and led professional development workshops. Roberta also has worked as a science writer for U.S. News & World Report and was a policy fellow at the National Science Foundation.
Roberta earned a B.S. in Environmental Geology and B.A. in German from Southern Methodist University in 1993. She earned her Ph.D. in Geosciences from Penn State University in 2000.
An 11-year resident of Berwyn, Roberta lives with her husband, Michael Dieterle, and their two sons, who attend Hillside Elementary School. Roberta has served as an M1 committeeperson since 2006 and has served as the TTDEM’s webmaster as well working on social media outreach.
Roberta is committed to:

- Supporting Science, Technology, Arts, Engineering, and Math (STEAM) opportunities for all students
- Promoting open communication with district residents and employees
- Fighting unnecessary high-stakes testing (like Keystone Exams)
