DEP to Hold Public Meeting on Uptown Worthington Stormwater Application
NORRISTOWN (July 16) -- The Department of Environmental Protection will conduct a public meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 23, at the People's Light and Theatre Company, 39 Conestoga Road, Malvern, on a proposed stormwater management plan for a mixed-use development at the former Worthington Steel site in East Whiteland Township, Chester County.
The proposed stormwater management plan will be available for review beginning at 6:30 p.m., with the meeting scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
The Uptown Worthington Square Condominium Association Inc. developer, Malvern Hill Associates (an affiliate of the O'Neill Properties Group LP), is proposing to discharge stormwater into Little Valley Creek, which carries the designation of being an exceptional-value stream.
The developer will present details of the plan and will answer questions from the public. DEP staff also will be available to answer questions about the permitting process.
The format of the meeting will encourage dialogue among concerned citizens, DEP and the applicant without the formality of a public hearing and its associated written transcript. However, the department will accept written comments from the public at the meeting and throughout the review process until Aug. 6.
Interested parties can view the stormwater management proposal at DEP's Southeast Regional Office in Norristown by calling 484-250-5910. If unable to attend the public meeting, written comments will be accepted by DEP until Aug. 6 and should be addressed to James Newbold, Watershed Management Program, 2 E. Main St., Norristown, PA 19401.
