TTDEMS Elect New Party Leaders to Start 2010
The Tredyffrin Democratic Party elected a new leadership team at their January monthly meeting. With members' unanimous support, Dariel Jamieson was chosen to be the next chair and F. Michael (Murph) Wysocki the next vice-chair. They replace retiring chair and vice-chair, Jayne Yockey and Jerry Henige.
Both Dariel and Murph are long-serving members of the TTDEMS. Dariel, a committeeperson for part of Chesterbrook and Brookmead Farm (M-4), has also served as a district coordinator and worked on the campaigns of a number of local, state and national Democratic candidates. Murph, a committeeperson in the Panhandle section of the township (E-5), has supported and worked for a number of Democratic candidates as well.
As incoming chair, Dariel appreciates the dual responsibility of representing the TTDems in the community as well as leading an effective organization that can mobilize voters and attract new members. "My goal is to grow the TTDem organization and use the sound management practices I learned in business to raise it to the next level. We will move aggressively to pursue our mission: To elect Democratic candidates at all levels of government to positively impact public policy."
She reflects on the need for change on the local level. "While 58% of Tredyffrin voters supported Barack Obama, we are currently governed by a Board of Supervisors that has no Democratic representation. As Democrats we intend to play the role of the opposition in an honorable way, fighting for good government and sound fiscal management."
Dariel and her family have lived in Tredyffrin for the past 22 years. Her husband John is a patent attorney in Philadelphia. Their two sons both attended T/E schools.
Dariel has spent the last 21 years working as a Principal at the Vanguard Group. During that time she held nine different positions ranging from Director of Planning to Head of International Operations. She holds an MBA from Wharton, an M.A. in European history and a B.A. in history. Dariel worked on T/E's 2001 Strategic Plan and continued as part of the annual review team for five years.
Murph and his wife Lois have lived in Tredyffrin for 32 years. Lois teaches biology, bioethics and genetics at Radnor High School. Their daughter attended T/E schools and now lives in Hershey, PA with her husband and two children.
Murph, a partner at the mid-Atlantic regional law firm of Saul Ewing LLP for the last 23 years, practices commercial real estate law. He holds an B.A. in political science from George Washington University and a J.D. from the Univ. of Pennsylvania Law School. He is past president of Radnor ABC (A Better Chance) and served as a coach for the Devon-Strafford Little League Challenger team for special needs children.
For Murph, stepping up to a leadership role is a serious commitment. "I look forward to working with Dariel and the Committee to build upon the existing Party foundation, and to helping all Tredyffrin voters get to know more about the growing Tredyffrin Democratic Party and how the Party contributes to making Tredyffrin Township a better community."
